Everyone knows that hors d’oeuvres are little, savory treats presented before the main course, usually to whet one’s appetite for more. The music presented here (representing music made I made in the past, here and now in the 2020 pandemic, and bites of full projects to be made in the future) will hopefully whet your appetite for what’s next. For example, in the early 2000’s I recorded a few songs for my own amusement and catharsis, and slices of those were used in the podcast I co-host with Michael Patti, “Checking the Gate: A Film and Religion Podcast.” Those are here along with new bumper material for our future forays into the world of YouTube movie reviews. “Wondering About My Loved Ones” is a request from my eldest son, and “Alienation” was written by my youngest. I recorded those and many of the other tiny tunes during our stay-at-home order. “Messier 87” and “Sagittarius A” are demos for the next project, all inspired by black holes. An album of music based on Psalms will be next, and a very raw demo represents that here. Past, present, and future are all embodied; some of these tasty treats are delicate and refined, others are raw, and a few are still crackling and on fire. Bon appétit!

Recorded on various computers and devices using Cakewalk, Audacity, and GarageBand - depending on the decade. Effects used: Earthquaker Devices (I don't have a problem, I can stop anytime I want) and FLUX:FX Play by Adrian Belew.
